I saw this adorable little tea light lantern on Pinterest using the Stampin’ UP! Hearth and Home thinlits and decided I would make my own version of a Halloween Lantern.
Here are my instructions. I hope I made them easy enough for you to follow along.
Out of Basic Black card card stock cut 4 Windows pieces and 4 Windows box pieces.
In addition you will need to cut four 1” x 3 3/4″ strips of Basic Black card stock for the sides and score lengthwise at ½ “.
Attach a window piece to one sides using sticky strip or Tombow glue. Repeat again with the remaining piece until your form the lantern. At the top of each window glue one of the window box pieces.
For the bottom, using Basic Black card stock, cut a 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ square and score all the sides at ¼”. Make a small snip as marked on the template, and attach sticky strip.
Use your bone folder to burnish the folds and with a glue dot attached the small tab at each corner forming the base. I then attached sticky strip to each sides.
Assemble the lantern by attaching the window frame to the bottom base.
How to make the windows.
I used 4 pieces of vellum cut at 3 ¼” x 3 ½”.
I stamped the spooky eyes with Versamark and embossed with black embossing powder. Don’t forget to use your embossing buddy on the vellum so you don’t pick up any small specs.
You can decorate the outside any way you like. I thought the little pumpkins were cute. I Added a touch of twine and an electric tea light.
I was really pleased with the result and I am planning to make a few more to give out as gifts.
Let me know what you think and thanks for stopping by.
